Crazy storms are brewing in the Atlantic this year.  I can't remember when we have seen so many tropical waves form at the same time. 4 named storms in the same period of time has to be close to a record.  Ike has been a fast mover this week and it looks to be making a bee-line to Florida.  Hanna is done with her vacation in the Turks, she must have sat stationary for 3 days.  Finally Josephine is out of the shoot and following Ike.  As any expert on TV would quote "We will have to see what develops".

Wow.

Could 2 Hurricanes hit U.S. shores at the same time?  Not likely this time.
Looks as if they have no idea where Hanna will end up according the computer models.

Check out this site.

Click on one of the storms and you can get all the info from computer models, historical, 3 & 5 day predictions.

Looks like we will be heading to Gustav in the next few days.  Hopefully it won't be another Katrina.  I don't think the people of LA could handle another storm that big. All the hotels from Mobile Ala. to Houston aren't taking reservations due to the storm which I think is kind of silly.  I know Orlando, Tampa, and Miami take reservations all the way up to when the storm is about to hit, no matter what the outcome may be so people have a place to stay.
All our blessings go to the people in that region and coming from a native Florida boy who has surfed, fled, and hunker'd down in Hurricanes.  Don't be ashamed or to proud to flee your home for a few days if the storm is coming your way.  It's just not worth your life to stay and try to brave Mother Nature.

Hurricane Fay looks like it will hit somewhere in Florida soon.
This is a new look for NOAA's website.  A RSS feed for approaching storms and predicted landfall time events.  I bet Punta Gorda isn't looking forward to see a repeat of the last hurricane that passed through.

Did you take a pic of the plant Cricket?
If I can show someone the pic they may be able to name it right off the bat.

If you can't upload the pic to the server, email it to me and I will post it the pic.

Greetings.

I am trying to id a plant I bought 2 years ago at Sun State Tree's nursurey. African Starburst it may have been called?  Huh
It has big wide green leaves that are purple underneath. At first it had white and purple shoot type flowers coming out of the tops.
Since the first season, I have'nt seen these flowers.
They die back every winter, but now are 8' tall (i already cut them back earlier this year)
I don't have the area irrigated, they get watered with roof runoff when it rains.
They seem not to like too much water

What can I do to get them to flower?
Bassman swears by Miracle Grow Liqui-feed, I haven't used it on them yet. Would this be acceptable?

I wouldn't mind having the low cost power.

You could get and skin peeling shower from the steam.

Just to fill you in Jason I made this post for you.

These are the things that are up-

Unemployment
Gas Prices
Road Rage (the latest thing is to shoot at people with your favorite handgun on I-4)
New Vermeer BC2000 chippers & Vermeer TG7000 Tub grinder (we are sporting new yellow toys)
Chem-Trails (the white streaks in the sky that the government trys to pawn it off as a jet stream, but we are altering the climate like Star Trek)
Bret's Stress Level (Jen and Bret are expecting a bab girl)
Sales at the Restrauant (got a new cook, THAT CAN COOK, and it's all Itailian)

Things that are down-

Businesses are closing left and right (but you can work at giant corp. work farms like Walmart, or Jiffy Lube)
Price of Guns - (that will change when Hillary Clinton is elected then we can bank)
Immigrant workers - (they should be in the up category but I put them in down because most of the illegals taking the last remaining jobs in Florida are "Down" from Florida.
Internet Speeds - (Everybody in their grandmother is on wireless and is lagging up the internet in half.  I don't speeds over 500k/sec unless it's 5am in the morning)
Everybody in Florida (generally you can see depression on everyones face because they are either paying bills or seeking money.  I think it's the unknown feeling if they are going to have a job tomorrow or even a company.  YES it's that bad!)

Honestly it has been day by day to survive around Central Florida.  Someone tells you different they are living in LA-LA land and it just hasn't caught up to them.

Post to say hi to Jason.
